In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Broncos managed to secure a 13-11 win over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz kicked the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the ugly win.
Even with recording nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 following giving up a two-point play in the third quarter. Interestingly, the Jets managed just 82 offensive yards during the entire game.
The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, engineered a decisive 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's 27-yard field goal with just over five minutes remaining.
In spite of their dismal performance, the Jets maintained possession with a opportunity to score a possible victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it instead of sending out kicker Nick Folk for a long kick.
Fields struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. The Jets ended up with minus-10 net yards passing, the fewest in any contest since 1998.
"The aerial attack was non-existent," the coach commented following the game.
The running back exceeded 200 total yards for the consecutive week and first-year Ryan Fitzgerald kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired to secure the Carolina Panthers a narrow win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Los Angeles Rams ended the first half with a defensive stop and subsequently quarterback Matthew Stafford led them to two scores to start the second half in their comfortable victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
The quarterback threw two touchdown passes and the running back ran the decisive score with 4:32 remaining, giving the Indianapolis Colts a 31-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
The quarterback passed for touchdown passes to Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp, and Seattle dominated both lines of scrimmage on their way to a comfortable win.
Aaron Rodgers passed for 235 yards and two scores, and the Pittsburgh Steelers experienced minimal difficulty in their 23-9 victory over the Cleveland Browns.
The quarterback escaped the pass rush and found with Ladd McConkey for a long catch-and-run in the closing seconds, setting up the kicker's fifth field goal to secure the Los Angeles Chargers a 29-27 win.
The quarterback threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns as the road New England Patriots beat the New Orleans Saints 25-19.
