Trump’s most recent ultimatum to introduce an extra 100% tariff on Chinese goods has been labeled a “classic case” of US double standards, as stated by the Beijing administration.

A Commerce Ministry spokesperson additionally remarked that China could implement its own undisclosed “countermeasures” if the American leader carries out his warning, adding that the country was “unafraid” of a looming trade conflict.

This past Friday, Donald Trump retaliated at the Chinese government’s action to tighten its rules for overseas sales of rare earth minerals, accusing the Chinese leadership of “adopting a confrontational stance” and attempting to hold the international market “captive”.

Furthermore, he vowed to withdraw from a scheduled talks with Chinese leader President Xi, which was arranged for a summit in South Korea later this month.

The official remarked that for “many years”, the America had “expanded the interpretation” of domestic safety, abused export control measures and “implemented” unfair treatments against the Chinese nation.

“Turning to” tariff threats is not the correct approach to deal with the Chinese government,” their representative said.

“Beijing’s stance” on a tariff war has consistently been unchanging: we are not seeking one, but we are unafraid of one.”

Recently, Beijing declared it was tightening export controls on key elements and other materials critical for advanced tech manufacturing.
